Follow the link to Boston.com’s Big Picture. On the other end are a neat collection of pictures that document the spectical that is the recently past 2008 Tour de France.

Neat stuff.

(Belated) Friday Photo of the Day

My apologies on the delay (and lack of posting the last few days). I took a trip to northern Minnesota to play a little golf. We left on pretty short notice, so this is the photo I planned to post Friday… a little late.

A closer look reveals some interesting characters climbing on the tower. Here’s the collection.

I can’t remember whether this was up when I was there in 2006, or if I just didn’t happen to notice. Either way, its a pretty interesting example of modern eastern European design, with a new capitalist twist!

I’m a little late getting this up, but they’re pretty neat. The midwest has been seeing some awefully severe and wet weather this spring/summer. This set of photos, from the blog Backing Winds, and commentary is pretty interesting.

Here’s to getting out of this severe weather cycle in the midwest. We don’t need any more rain for a few weeks.

Today’s photo comes from Ann Althouse. She hosts it on Flickr and posted it to her blog yesterday.

Sunny here right now. We’ll see how long that holds.

Friday Photo: Beijing

After this weekend, there are two months until the Olympics. This photo is reminiscent of the few from New York City during the depression of the laborers having lunch on an I-beam hundreds of feet above the city on the frame of a skyscraper.

Because the user has all rights reserved, I am unable to host it here. Please follow this link to see it.

The key thing from both this photo linked above and the NYC is the emphasis of development on the backs of cheap laborers. This labor has even been treated in a very disposable fashion through out both countries’ industrial development.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few months before the world focuses its gaze on the Chinese capital.

Here’s an oldie from a trip I took to Portugal a while back.

Its looking north of Cabo Da Roca, the western-most point on the European continent.
