What Happened?

I’m going to review Scott McClellan’s new memoir What Happened in the way that he reviewed books by Paul O’Neill and Richard Clarke during his stint as Press Secretary (quotes via Jennifer Parker, a blogger at Political Punch, in a great bit of work):

It appears to be more about trying to justify personal views and opinions than it does about looking at the results that we are achieving on behalf of the American people.

And:

Well, why, all of a sudden, if he had all these grave concerns, did he not raise these sooner? This is one-and-a-half years after he left the administration. And now, all of a sudden, he’s raising these grave concerns that he claims he had.

This, from Powerline, is also key:

McClellan’s predecessor as press secretary, the far more able Ari Fleischer, wrote a book about his time in the post.

Or should I say typical of the MSM?

Even the often left-leaning (yet still one of my favorite) political parody blog Wonkette hits the nail on the head–noting the utterly predictable result of the book’s release–saying, “Now let us never speak of it again.”

Agreed.
