Office Rumors Blog – “Better reading this than the insides of your eyelids!”

Comment Policy Offender #1

with one comment

Since Office Rumors first started, I had not had any bad or even questionable comments (spam trackbacks, yes, but no bad comments). Over this weekend, with the added traffic, I thought it was best to head off any rash comments with a plainly stated policy on how I would moderate them (seen here, or via the link above). It hasn’t even been one day and I received one. I am going to list it in this post as an example of what will not be tolerated. Per the policy:

Please avoid harsh language and the use of profanity. Flaming, trolling, or use of threatening language is not allowed nor will it be tolerated.

Also,

I reserve the right to edit or delete comments as I feel necessary.

Most likely, if the comment is topical and intelligent, it will not be edited. If your comment conveys a coherent thought, it may just be edited (in the case of glaring grammar/spelling mistakes, for example); tirades will most likely be deleted.

In order to mark this point, and to use the comment as an example of a rant and lacking of a reasonably well thought out argument, I will post it here. At the base of it, I can see where the commenter was going, but thought the comment so poorly argued, that it was to be used as an example, or deleted entirely. So, without further delay, here is the comment from “Vincent” regarding the post “Ways the Next President Can Fix the Economy“:

increase the retirement age??? are you nuts??? when I will be able to enjoy the steak I will have no teeth to eat it with… the only people who are for this are those that have a wonderful tuition free, mortgage free and overall free life… those who believe that is an answer are idiots. I.e. I have 3 elderly persons working in my area right now… they refuse to learn the PC… refuse to do more work… don’t get along with the others… etc… etc… we are keeping the wrong people in the work force… give the opportunity to those who now need it and want it and are trying to get established… not those who can retire comfortably and want to enjoy their senior years… WHAT IDIOTS YOU ARE

Hopefully, posts like this don’t become regular at this blog. Based on the topic it was posted to, the comment is not even topical. Well, maybe it gets on topic halfway through. Again, please follow the guidelines of the comment policy, which I believe are fairly straight-forward, when making comments.

Thank you.

  1. Sounds like he’s just a little bitter… I’m sure he was passed up for a promotion to customer greeter. Only to have it given to the more senior, more experienced, less tech savvy but yet more cheerful senior citizen at his company.

While inappropriate it is always funny to see how fired up people get when they try to vent their personal frustrations on the web. Comments should at the very least be apart of the discussion bringing more information to the table whether it’s for or against the OP. *Not a toilet for someone with oral diarrhea from an apatite of biased and asinine information.*

Kudos on keeping this Blog one where intelligent discussion is encouraged and not diluted with fertilizer in the form of the # of comments .

My suggestion to Vincent is to start your own blog about your escapades in the rat race, might turn out to be something worth reading about.
